California Online Poker Dead?

California Online Poker Efforts Shelved Indefinitely Very Little Chance Bill Will Move Forward This Year: Report

It’s been 10 years since lawmakers in California began looking at regulating state-licensed online poker sites. Nothing has ever come to fruition.

It was already unlikely that 2017 would be any different, but, according to OnlinePokerReport, California Assemblyman Reggie Jones-Sawyer, sponsor of the current online poker bill, has said definitively that there won’t be any action on it this year.

The debate could be restarted next year, but there’s no guarantee.

California tribes haven’t been able to come to a consensus on how to regulate the industry. Some don’t want PokerStars being allowed entry into the market.

How is it at Pala the EC is the council, enrollment committee, housing authority and gaming board/authority?? When in other tribes each is made up of different tribal members to prevent conflict of interest and to stop one group from having to much power/authority. In Pala the EC controls every aspect of the tribe and that's how they get away with everything they do because they answer to no one, not even the U.S. law/courts. They just claim sovereignty and the courts drop the case. Although the tribal members and disenrolled tribal members are slowing chipping away at the EC and new laws and cases are popping up on the books so it truly is only a matter of time before the corrupt Pala EC is charged, convicted and punished by the law and the tribe for their actions over the past several years. Only one can save themselves sort of, by coming clean and joining the law and the tribe. You may not and probably won't be forgiven by the tribe or people you have hurt but your punishment will less severe. This message is for those Pala EC members that know who they are. Robert Smith, Theresa Nieto, Howard Maxcy, Dion Perez, Sheila Lopez. Theressa Villa your part remains to be seen and an investigation/audit will answer that question and the tribe/FBI/IRS/DOJ/DOI will decide. Your futures are uncertain and you have already dug your hole and soon it will be time for you to lay in it or fill it back in by your actions of making amends and fixing your mistakes. For some of you it is too late.

I pray every day that we get our old pala back. So many of our pala brothers and sisters are suffering from dissenrollment. Please put a stop to this. Stop hurting our own people.

Trust my friend it is only a matter of time before the corrupt few at Pala are exposed. There are things going on currently and coming up and ongoing that will never stop until wrongs are righted. We will outlast the EC corruption. That will be a laugh in the EC and their supporters faces kind of day.

The IRS has all financial info for the past 5 years for the Tribe.
Including but not limited to all the so called bad investments made by Robert Smith and Theresa Nieto and others.
Including the Warner Springs land deal that the EC has shoved under the rug, so to say.
And the Gregory Canyon land buy is a real "whopper" all by its self.
The shit is about to hit the fan soon.
Good by Smith and Nieto, it's been a long rough road but the end is very close and the party will happen.

I know these high profile corruption investigation's take years especially when they involve a lot of people like people outside the tribe that take kick-backs and bribes to look the other way or help out . Well it has been years and the cases are coming to a close. I think Robert knows this and we will see if he is tipped off and flee's or tries to throw money at lawyers to defend his actions claiming sovereignty. Sovereignty is a reason this investigation and build up of evidence is taking longer than normal because they need to have the right charges to void sovereignty. When the government makes a case they make sure it is solid and all bases are covered. We will see when the time comes which way it will go. This I tell you, all tribal members and family of enrolled members that have aided and helped the corrupt EC hurt and punish Pala and its people will all be called to answer for their actions. Banishment, loss of percap, exclusion from tribal matters to name a few not including what the government will do.

After reading some of these postings I was able to see some of the progress from the investigations and I am surprised at how many of these postings are actual facts and true.
If these people aren't arrested tried and convicted and sent to prison for these crimes I will be really surprised.
I don't really see any law firm with qualified Attorneys that could defend them in Federal Court.

WHY DOES THE PALA TRIBE EVEN HAVE TRIBAL MEETINGS ANYMORE.
THEY ARE ALWAYS THE SAME BULLSHIT, MEETING AFTER MEETING.
THE MEMBERSHIPS VOTE DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING ANYMORE.
IT IS JUST A FORMALITY.

P.B.M.I. is.not. I repeat NOT a tribe, if so your name would be Pala Tribe of Mission Indians, but I guess nobody can stop those who call pala a tribe from trying to live a fantasy

You are right. A tribe has to prove it was in existence in 1900. PBMI was created in 1959 when the Articles of Association were adopted.

@2:17pm and 8:26pm

What do you guys mean? Pala Band of Mission Indians PBMI is the name of the tribe which is made up of Cupeno, Luiseno, Kumeyaay, and Cahuilla people. What does 1900 have to do with anything?

How come to be enrolled at Pala then you can only count your Cupeno blood or have to be a descendant from a Cupeno Warner ranch evictee? If Pala is made up of several different tribes? Also the 1900 mention I believe they are referring to in order to be recognized as a tribe you have to have a historical record or connection to before 1900. Which the Cupeno of Warner ranch did which were moved to Pala in 1903 where the Luiseno already lived. FREE PALA!! DOWN WITH ROBERT SMITH & THERESSA NIETO

PBMI was an Association of Indiansnow living on the Pala Reservation until the General Council voted to change the name of the Pala Band of Luiseno Mission Indians to PBMI. Now the BIA considers PBMI to be a Luiseno tribe.

When Smith and Nieto are dead and 6 feet under concrete things will get back to the way they should be.
As long as they are alive and kicking things won't change and they will continue to steal from the Members of PBMI.
