Online Poker Futility Serves As A Lesson To California Tribes On Embracing Technology In A Changing Industry
Excerpts:

Tribal leaders and gambling industry executives are pessimistic of success in getting online poker enacted in the two-year legislative cycle that began in January, largely because of lingering differences over the licensing suitability of PokerStars.
“There is no evidence that the tribes have reconciled that or even demonstrated a willingness to do so,” said Jim Ryan, CEO of Pala Interactive, an enterprise of the Pala Band of Mission Indians.
“Everything I’m being told is that the legislators in Sacramento have been exhausted by the issue. So in the absence of a material catalyst I think iPoker is certainly going nowhere fast.”

Pala and the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut operate websites offering real-money gambling and social gaming, where players pay for credits to play casino games that do not produce jackpots.
“In the past 3½ years many tribes have provided social gaming offerings over the internet,” Ryan said, including several California Indian bands.
Economists believe the annual North American social gambling market is approaching $4 billion in annual revenue.

This is one of the reasons that all of these major decisions should be discussed with the Tribal Members before the EC takes it upon them selfs to invest in these so called good ventures.
How do we know how much money was really invested by Pala.
I guess we just have to take Robert Smiths word for it which means he
could add any figure that he needs that will help him cover other things that he needs money for.
His word is like a pile of shit, not worth anything to most people with a half a brain.
Ask him how much has been spent on this venture and he will side step
the question over to Nieto and she will tell the Members that she will have an answer for them maybe at the next meeting or two.
And everyone is ok with that answer.
These types of money questions should be answered as soon as they are asked .Nieto being the Tribes Treasure should have all money issues at hand and be able to answer any and all questions regarding the
investments made by the Tribe, there should never be any more time
needed to answer these important issues.
When she or Smith ask for more time to get the info requested, there are asking for more time to cover up any mistakes or intentions made on there part.
Then they will come back at the next meeting and not have the info and tell the Members that they are still working on it.
BULLSHIT- BULLSHIT-AND MORE BULLSHIT.
WE NEED A CHANGE AND NEED IT NOW.
One thing is for certain: PBMI members have not been informed about the investment in Pala Interactive, the costs to keep the venture up and running, how much has been invested in lobbying in California to get online gaming legislature passed, or how much has been spent lobby in Congress to fight restoration of America's Wire Act.
Robert Smith put up a ton of casino revenue to get the venture off the ground and has not reported any of the financial impact to the PBMI. No one knows if Pala Interactive makes money or loses money. No knows how much money PBMI is supposed to get. No one knows how much Robert Smith gets, or what the Directors get, and there are several EC members on the Board of Directors.
The whole thing is a scam designed to convert gaming revenue into a personal investment for the Chairman and to reward people like Pala Casino General Manager Bill Bembenek and CFO Shawna Anton with cushy jobs for helping Smith steal over a billion dollars from the Casino.
Smith and Nieto can't answer questions about Pala Interactive without revealing the scam, so don't expect answers anytime soon.
well maybe Bill Bembenek will sing like a bird when he is let go.
According to rumors at the Casino Smith is putting out notices for a new GM.
Don't know how true it is, you know how gossip gets around, but that's
what I heard about a week ago.
This is funny, because about a month ago Smith was at the Cave and was saying the same thing.
Old Billy Bob must have pissed him off about something.
Whatever happened with the Agua caliente tribe of pala? Did they get there federal recognition?
We are still working on it. These things don't happen overnight. There is a court date in May.
Glad to hear it is still being worked on. I hope it goes well
Robert Smith and Nieto have said that they will spend any amount of money needed to stop this action of being recognized.
They along with Amy Shitbag of the BIA will spend any amount of the Bands money to do so, even without the Membership approval.
Maybe throwing money at it will work. That is how they shut down the Trujillo's case and changed the name of the Pala Luisenos. We will have to wait and see what happens. The good thing is that this is out of Amy Dutschke's hands. She has no say in whether or not Agua Caliente is recognized. This is between the Tribe and the AS-IA.
Meanwhile you can smell Smith and Nieto's fear...
Pala people should save their money, North Dakota rep is proposing a bill to have state run Casinos, not saying it will happen, but if it is being suggested now, it could easily become a reality in the near future, what if California does it? It would be a good way to help with their huge debt, and rid the disenrollment problem. Be prepared.
Especially with Take a Dump Trump in the White House.
Just heard that Rob is changing the Cupa Cultural Center to the Luiseno Learning Library. PBMI is all Luiseno now so it makes sense.
That's why the agua caliente of pala needs to be recognized
If he does this I am sure someone will take his ass out for sure, and anyone else that tries to destroy our Reservation.
Who is this someone? Not anyone in the cowardly PBMI, that's for sure.
That motion to evict George Perez, Dion Perez's father from the Reservation should be null and void because Karen Castillo was not on the Agenda to speak.
She played it to the max blaming George Perez for her drinking addiction and other things.
I can't believe that Dion or his brother Kyle didn't speak up to defend their father.
There was only 4 of us that voted against the motion made by non other
Kyle Felt and second by the other molester, Erick Garcia Ortega.
And as far as Karen goes blaming George for something that happened over 30 years ago is insane, and George already served his time for his crimes.
And Karen was probably pissed off because you know she enjoyed it.
@2:40, If she was a child at the time, no child enjoys being molested, shame on you, and it is something you live with for your entire life and if he did it he should pay for it. It is disgusting for an adult to take advantage of a child in that manner, no excuses. It does cause depression, low self esteem, suicidal thoughts, and so much more, but at the same time, it should not be used as a crutch once you are the age of reasoning you are responsible for your actions, and you take something bad that happened to you that was out of your control and you turn it into something positive and you make sure it does not happen to someone you know.
@2:40, Maybe Kyle and Dion know he is guilty. If this happened to Karen when she was a child, your comment about her enjoying it is extremely rude. No child asks to be molested, how dare you, it is a horrifying thing that stays with you your whole life. It causes depression, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, and more. He should pay for his actions if he is guilty. For her to have to face him is even worse, she probably wanted to never see his face again, wow, Bet you would probably back a murderer up too. I do believe though it should not be used as a crutch for her, that makes him and his sin win, she should try to make something positive out of it by making sure it does not happen to others, especially her loved ones.
So he does his jail time but he still has to pay? Hey, I'm no fan boy, but forgiveness helps heal. That's all I'm saying.
I understand what you are saying, but think of it this way, the rapist got out of jail and moved to the area where the crimes happened and the victim(s) live, how do you think that affects the victim(s)? Just saying.
the thing that I don't understand is that the EC went only on her say so with no evidence or no complaints to the Sheriffs dept.
And that is not right.
Even his wife says that the real reason for this is that Karen just flat does not like George.
Now she (the Mom) is alone and is in bad health and no one to care for her.
I even checked Megan's list and he has no violations on his record.
Ha the EC, you question their move now, ha, what have we been saying about them for years, oh but now that they go against someone you care about, now they are evil, wow. I don't know their idiotic mean cruel reasoning for anything they do, and I am sorry she is sort of alone, but I bet she has Health Care and still gets her per-capita, what about those who were wrongfully disenrolled kicked out of their homes, lost all of their health care, can't visit their families or their family's graves, have lost everything and any feeling of truly belonging that they had once felt by their fellow members, are constantly mocked by evil cronies of the EC, and no one is helping them at all, they are withering away with no health care in a poor house or someone else's home, now that is a true crime. It sounds like this is part of Dion's Karma, so get ready for more weird shit and if you are related to any of them, be prepared for something to happen to you or your loved ones, the cloud of hate and greed that the EC has created will strike the ones they love as payback for the crimes they have committed against their own people.
That motion to evict George Perez, Dion Perez's father from the Reservation should be null and void because Karen Castillo was not on the Agenda to speak.
