In 1903 the Agua Caleinte Cupeno were removed from their ancestral tribal home, the Village of Kupa also known as Warner's Hot Springs. The Cupeno were forced onto the Pala Indian Reservation. This is known as the Cupeno Trail of Tears.
On June 1st, 2011 and February 1st, 2012 162 Warner Ranch Evictee Agua Caliente Cupeno were removed from the PBMI Association by the Pala Enrollment Committee. This is our Second Trail of Tears.

He has cursed himself with his own actions. His disrespect for our ancestors and elders speaks volumes of the man he is or is not, definitely not an Indian Chief, no guidance, no wisdom, no intelligence, no love, no heart, no true leader.
TO THERESA J NIETO,DION PEREZ,ROBERT SMITH, HOWARD MAXEY, why can't you EC members just except the "FINAL" 1989 decision that was made by the U.S.Government, BIA? Every thing is spelt out for you in this letter from the Secretary of the Interior. All your actions are causing BIG PROBLEMS in Pala, all because you guys think that you are right and that the U.S. Government and everyone else is wrong. You are destroying this Reservation one day and one life at a time. Just look at all the name calling going on today, and look at all the hard feelings that are brewing in the Community, and you are all blaming the Britten family, when in fact it is you, The EC that is bringing the hardship to the Tribe. And to Mr. Howard Maxey JR. you were running around telling all the people that night at the meeting to vote for and you would make everything right again. One thing for sure Howard, is that you are for sure not the man that your Father is. When he said that he was going to do something HE did it, he kept his word to his friends and his Family. You, my friend are nothing but a liar and a cheat and will never be like your Dad because you lie, cheat, and steal with no Heart for your Tribe. You do what you are told to do by RS, and your Cousin Nieto even if you know that it is the wrong thing to do. What kind of legacy are you leaving for your Children to look up to? Why are you teaching them that it is ok to turn your back on your family and friends as long as you don't caught stealing from them.
